High Performance and Portable
The MediaVault 4440 is a compact, modular, high performance RAID disk
systems with quad 4Gb fibre channel controllers and 40x2.5” laptop SATA
drives, capable of data rates in excess of 4K film resolution files, 2 streams of
2K resolution, or 4 streams of uncompressed HD 10 bit. Each individual
controller and 10-drive unit, a vPod, is hot-plug removable allowing rapid
removal and transport of digital media files including 4K resolution digital film
projects. When combined as a single quad-channel fibre channel device, the
4440 is easily capable of supporting the most intensive high resolution digital
media projects. Combined with ultra high definition camera, the vPod is
creating a new standard in the transport of digital media from field projects all
the way into the post production environment.
Complete Data Security
Combining shock-resistant laptop drives with RAID 6, the highest level of
RAID protection, the 4440 is the most reliable and transportable high capacity
disk storage on the market today. As with all other models in the MediaVault
family, the RAID engine maintains performance with no degradation or data
loss if up to 2 drives fail, so capturing and processing operations are never
interrupted.
Optimized for High Bandwidth Applications
With Ciprico’s extensive experience in providing storage solutions to both commercial and government entities, the
4440 was designed with specific high bandwidth high-performance applications in mind: portable image capture –
shooting video direct to disk, film or tape replacement, airborne acquisition or mobile ground station based
acquisition and analysis of satellite reconnaissance information, desktop
content creation graphics, NLE, color correction, conforming, etc.
Accelerated Workflow Productivity
Whether out recording with the 4440 in the field or back at your workstation,
the 4440 will connect equally easily to onsite capture stations or the fibre
channel-based infrastructure in a facility, allowing the digital media workflow
to extend to all elements of the production process. MediaVault 4440
removable vPods eliminate the time, risk and cost of data transport using
FireWire drives. Each vPod is capable of
carrying up to a complete quarter reel of
4K resolution video.
